CMA Exam Registration & Certification

The CMA exam consists of two parts, each taken separately at a Prometric test centre. Exam testing windows open three times per year: January/February, May/June, and September/October.

Candidates must be a member of IMA, meet the education requirement (a bachelor's degree or equivalent, or a related professional certification), and complete two continuous years of professional experience in management accounting or financial management within seven years of passing both parts.

  1. Become an IMA member and apply for the CMA program on the IMA online store.
  2. Enroll in the CMA program and purchase the exam part(s) you intend to sit.
  3. Schedule your exam appointment at a Prometric test centre within a valid testing window.
  4. Pass both Part 1 and Part 2 within the allowed timeframe.
  5. Meet the two-year continuous professional experience requirement to earn the certification.
